SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria 

The basic SSC CHSL eligibility criteria are counting on 3 factors like age criteria, nationality, and academic criteria.

The complete eligibility criteria are as follows:

Nationality: Candidate should be an Indian citizen or ought to belong to Nepal/ Bhutan or Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, to forever settle in India.

Educational Criteria: should have cleared or appearing class 12 or its equivalent from a recognized educational board or University.

Age Criteria: Age should be between 18– 27 years as of January 1, 2022, however, certain reserved category candidates can claim for reservation according to the Indian government norms. Further specifically, the aspirants mustn’t be born before 2 January 1995 and not later than 1 January 2004.

Selection Procedure

SSC CHSL 2022 selection process is predicated on the results of all 3 tiers.

Candidates have to be compelled to qualify for every tier to be within the subsequent tier.

SSC CHSL Tier 1 Syllabus 

All the candidates should check the careful exam syllabus before they begin preparing for SSC CHSL 2022 exam. The Tier 1 exam consists of the these topics.

  1. General Intelligence
  2. English Language
  3. General Awareness
  4. Quantitative Aptitude

In Tier I, the question will be from the following topics:

General Intelligence: The questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Trends, Space Orientation,  Figural Analogy, Venn Diagrams, Semantic Classification, Symbolic/Number Classification, Drawing inferences ,Figural Classification ,Punched hole/pattern-folding & unfolding , Semantic Series, Figural Pattern – folding and completion, Number Series, Embedded figures, Figural Series, Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Coding and decoding, Other sub-topics, if any Numerical operations

For English Subject: Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks ,Synonyms/Homonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/ Detecting Mis-spelt words, Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution, Improvement of Sentences , Active/Passive Voice of Verbs , Conversion into Direct/Indirect narration, Shuffling of Sentence parts , Shuffling of Sentences in a passage , Cloze Passage, Comprehension Passage

For Quantitative Aptitude: From the quantitative aptitude, the question will be following topics.
Number Systems: Computation of Whole Number,  Decimal and Fractions, Relationship between numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations: , Percentages Ratio and Proportion, Square roots, Averages,  Interest (Simple and Compound), Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership, Business , Mixture and Allegation,  Time and distance , Time and work.
Algebra: Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra and Elementary surds (simple problems) and Graphs of Linear Equations.

Geometry: Familiarity with elementary geometric figures and facts: Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles.

Mensuration: Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square Base Trigonometric: Trigonometry, Trigonometric ratios, Complementary angles, Height and distances (simple problems only) Standard Identities like sin20 + Cos20=1 etc., Statistical Charts : Use of Tables and Graphs: Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar- diagram, Pie-chart.

For General Awareness: Questions are designed to test the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially 10 pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy and scientific research.

SSC Tier II Exam Pattern

SSC Tier 2 (Descriptive Type) Exam Pattern: The SSC Tier 2 will be descriptive type. The total marks will be of total 200 marks and time duration will be of 2 Hours. The question will be from quantitative and English. Tier Marks Time DurationTier II (Descriptive) 200 marks 2 HoursFollowing points to be consider.

There will be 1 mark for each correct answer. There will be a Negative Marking 0.50 marks for Quantitative Aptitude Sections and 0.25 marks for English Language and Comprehension. Only Those Candidates who will qualify tier 1 will be allowed to appear in Tier II exam.

The minimum qualifying marks in Tier-II would be 33 per cent. The Paper will be either in English or Hindi.

The tier III will be Data Entry Test. This will be applicable only for post of Assistant Audit Officer. For the Typing test, there will be 2000 (two thousand) key depressions for a duration of 15 (fifteen) minutes will be of qualifying nature.

Note: Only Candidates who are VH/OH (afflicted by Cerebral Palsy) and OH with deformity in writing hand will be allowed 35 minutes including compensatory time 20 minutes for the skill test.

Tier III 2000 (two thousand) key depressions for a duration of 15 (fifteen) minutes 15 Minutes for Typing skill.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Syllabus

This Tier has a descriptive exam that is designed to test the written skills of the students in English/Hindi. The Paper would have an essay to be written in 200-250 words and Letter/Application writing of approximately 150-200 words. The minimum marks to qualify in Tier-II would be 33 percent. The performance in Tier-II would be incorporated for preparing merit. The best way to prepare for this tier is to read as many articles from various sources like magazines, novels, newspapers, etc. Besides this, you need to be well versed in the pattern of Letter and Application.

SSC CHSL Tier 3 Exam Pattern

  • After the qualifiers of Tier 1 and Tier 2 candidates, will appeared in the Tier 3 for a Skill Test/Typing Test .

  • Typing Test would be conducted only for candidates applying for Data Entry Operator (DEO). 

  • Candidates will have to qualify the test at the prescribed speed on Computer, provided by the Commission at the Centre/venue so notified.

  • Typing Test: For English, typing speed of 35 words per minute is required. For Hindi typing speed of 30 words per minute is mandatory. Typing test will be applicable for Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, LDC, and Court Clerk posts.

  • Skill Test: Data Entry Speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour on the computer. Skill test is conducted for Data Entry Operator post. For DEO in C&AG office speed of 15000 key depression per hour is required. Duration of the test is 15 minutes.

  • Your final admission would be governed on the basis of total score obtained in Tier 1 and Tier 2 only.

  • Only Candidates who are VH/OH (afflicted by Cerebral Palsy) and OH with a deformity in writing hand will be allowed 35 minutes including compensatory time 20 minutes for the skill test.

SSC CHSL Tier 3 Exam Syllabus

The Tier 3 of SSC CGL Exam 2019 has skill tests that are required for certain government posts.

Skill Test for Data Entry Operator(DEO):

  • Typing speed for Data Entry operator is 8,000 (eight thousand) with Key Depressions per hour on Computer.

  • The test will be of 15 minutes duration

Typing Test for Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant LDCs and Court Clerks:

  • Typing Test will be held in English or Hindi and candidates while registering for the Examination, will have to mention his/her choice/option for Skill Test Medium in the Application Form.

  • In this, the typing test will be of qualifying in nature.

  • It will be managed on the Computer, to be provided by the Commission or any agency approved by the Commission.

  • Candidates who opt for English medium should possess a  typing speed of 35 words per minute.

  • Candidates who opt for Hindi medium should have typing speed of 30 words per minute.

  • The speed will be decided on the accuracy of typing on the Computer of a given text passage in 10 minutes.

  • Visually Handicapped candidates (with 40% disability and above) will be given 30 minutes.

Note: After conducting a skill test or typing test, those candidates who qualify it, will be chosen based on their position in the merit list.
