3. Selection Procedure

The selection process for the UKPSC PCS Exam consists of three stages:

  • Preliminary Examination: Objective-type screening test.
  • Main Examination: Descriptive-type with multiple papers on General Studies and language.
  • Interview/Personality Test: Final assessment for suitability and aptitude.

4. Exam Pattern

  • Preliminary Exam:
    • Paper I: General Studies – 150 marks, 2 hours
    • Paper II: General Aptitude Test – 150 marks, 2 hours (qualifying in nature)
    • Both papers are objective-type with negative marking for incorrect answers.
  • Main Exam:
    • Paper I: Language (English & Hindi) – 300 marks, 3 hours
    • Paper II: Essay – 200 marks, 3 hours
    • General Studies Papers I, II, and III – Each paper carries 200 marks, 3 hours each.
    • Total marks for the Main Exam are 1200.
  • Interview:
    • Carries 200 marks.
    • Final selection is based on the marks obtained in the Mains and Interview combined.

5. Preparation Tips

  • Understand the Syllabus: Go through each topic in the UKPSC syllabus thoroughly, with particular attention to Uttarakhand-specific sections.
