Eligibility Criteria:

  • Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India and permanent residents of Odisha.
  • Language Proficiency: Applicants should be able to read and write in Odia and must have passed the HSC examination conducted by the BSE Odisha or an equivalent exam with Odia as a language subject.
  • Educational Qualifications:
    • For Category I (Education Teachers):
      • Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) in Science (PCM/CBZ):
        • Bachelor's degree in Science/B.Tech/B.E. with at least 50% marks in relevant subjects and a B.Ed. degree recognized by NCTE.
      • TGT in Arts:
        • Bachelor's degree in Arts with at least 50% marks in relevant subjects and a B.Ed. degree recognized by NCTE.
      • Hindi Teacher:
        • Bachelor's degree with Hindi as an elective subject and a B.Ed. degree recognized by NCTE.
      • Classical Teacher (Sanskrit/Urdu/Telugu):
        • Bachelor's degree in the concerned classical subject and a B.Ed. degree recognized by NCTE.
    • For Category II (Physical Education Teachers):
      • 12th pass with a Certificate/Diploma in Physical Education (C.P.Ed./D.P.Ed.) or a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) from a recognized institution.

OSSTET Previous Year Question Papers

Selection Procedure:
The selection process for OSSTET involves a written examination. Candidates who score at least 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PH/SEBC candidates) are considered qualified. Qualifying the OSSTET is mandatory for appointment as a secondary school teacher in Odisha, but it does not guarantee employment.

Exam Pattern: The OSSTET comprises two papers:

  • Paper I: For Education Teachers (TGT Science, TGT Arts, Hindi Teacher, Classical Teacher).
  • Paper II: For Physical Education Teachers.

Both papers consist of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark. The duration for each paper is 2.5 hours. There is no negative marking.
