Eligibility Criteria:
- Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India and permanent residents of Odisha.
- Language Proficiency: Applicants should be able to read and write in Odia and must have passed the HSC examination conducted by the BSE Odisha or an equivalent exam with Odia as a language subject.
- Educational Qualifications:
- For Category I (Education Teachers):
- Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) in Science (PCM/CBZ):
- Bachelor's degree in Science/B.Tech/B.E. with at least 50% marks in relevant subjects and a B.Ed. degree recognized by NCTE.
- TGT in Arts:
- Bachelor's degree in Arts with at least 50% marks in relevant subjects and a B.Ed. degree recognized by NCTE.
- Hindi Teacher:
- Bachelor's degree with Hindi as an elective subject and a B.Ed. degree recognized by NCTE.
- Classical Teacher (Sanskrit/Urdu/Telugu):
- Bachelor's degree in the concerned classical subject and a B.Ed. degree recognized by NCTE.
- For Category II (Physical Education Teachers):
- 12th pass with a Certificate/Diploma in Physical Education (C.P.Ed./D.P.Ed.) or a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) from a recognized institution.

Selection Procedure:
The selection process for OSSTET involves a written examination. Candidates who score at least 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PH/SEBC candidates) are considered qualified. Qualifying the OSSTET is mandatory for appointment as a secondary school teacher in Odisha, but it does not guarantee employment.
Exam Pattern: The OSSTET comprises two papers:
- Paper I: For Education Teachers (TGT Science, TGT Arts, Hindi Teacher, Classical Teacher).
