The Chhattisgarh Teacher Eligibility Test (CG TET) is a state-level examination conducted by the Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board (CGPEB) to assess the eligibility of candidates aspiring to teach at primary (Classes I-V) and upper primary (Classes VI-VIII) levels in government schools across Chhattisgarh. Below is a comprehensive overview of CG TET, including notification details, eligibility criteria, selection procedure, exam pattern, preparation tips, and syllabus.

Notification:
The official notification for CG TET 2024 was released on March 7, 2024. The application process commenced on March 7, 2024, and concluded on April 7, 2024. The examination was held on June 23, 2024. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official CGPEB website (vyapam.cgstate.gov.in) for updates on future notifications and schedules.

Eligibility Criteria: CG TET comprises two papers, each catering to different teaching levels, with specific eligibility requirements:

• Paper I (Primary Level: Classes I-V):
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, in accordance with NCTE regulations.
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
• Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
• Paper II (Upper Primary Level: Classes VI-VIII):
• Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
• Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
• Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year B.Ed (Special Education).

Selection Procedure: The selection process involves a written examination comprising two papers:

1. Paper I: For candidates aspiring to teach Classes I to V.
2. Paper II: For candidates aspiring to teach Classes VI to VIII.

Candidates aiming to teach Classes I to VIII must appear for both papers. Qualifying CG TET is mandatory for appointment as a teacher in Chhattisgarh; however, it does not guarantee employment.
Exam Pattern:
Both Paper I and Paper II consist of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark. The duration for each paper is 2 hours and 30 minutes. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

Note: Candidates can choose either Mathematics and Science or Social Studies/Social Science based on their specialization.

Syllabus: The syllabus for both papers includes the following areas:

• Child Development and Pedagogy: Focuses on educational psychology, teaching methodologies, and understanding diverse learners.
• Languages (Hindi and English): Assess proficiency in chosen languages, including grammar, comprehension, and communication skills.
• Mathematics: Covers fundamental mathematical concepts and problem-solving abilities relevant to the respective teaching level.
• Environmental Studies (for Paper I): Includes topics related to science, social studies, and environmental awareness.
• Mathematics and Science (for Paper II): Advanced topics in mathematics and science tailored for upper primary teaching.
• Social Studies/Social Science (for Paper II): Encompasses history, geography, political science, and related disciplines.
