The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a national-level examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to assess the eligibility of candidates aspiring to teach in Classes I to VIII across various central government schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs). Notification: The official notification for the CTET December 2024 session was released on September 17, 2024. The application process commenced on September 17, 2024, and concluded on October 16, 2024. The examination is scheduled for December 14, 2024. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official CTET website (ctet.nic.in) for updates on future notifications and schedules.

Eligibility Criteria: CTET comprises two papers, each catering to different teaching levels, with specific eligibility requirements:

  • Paper I (Primary Stage: Classes I-V):
    • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
    • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, in accordance with NCTE regulations.
    • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
    • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  • Paper II (Elementary Stage: Classes VI-VIII):
    • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
    • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
    • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
    • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year B.Ed (Special Education).

CTET Previous Year Question Papers

Selection Procedure: The selection process involves a written examination comprising two papers:

  1. Paper I: For candidates aspiring to teach Classes I to V.
  2. Paper II: For candidates aspiring to teach Classes VI to VIII.

Candidates aiming to teach Classes I to VIII must appear for both papers. Qualifying CTET is mandatory for appointment as a teacher in central government schools; however, it does not guarantee employment.
Exam Pattern:
Both Paper I and Paper II consist of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark. The duration for each paper is 2 hours and 30 minutes. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
