HPPSC Forest Range Officer Eligibility Criteria
The HPPSC has defined eligibility in terms of education, age limit, physical standards, and the number of attempts. The date for determining these eligibility criteria shall be 19th April 2021.
A. Education
Candidates must possess Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in Science or Engineering from any recognized University with at least one of the following subjects:-
(i) Agriculture
(ii) Botany
(iii) Chemistry
(iv) Computer Applications / Science.
(v) Engineering (Agricultural / Chemical / Civil / Computer / Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical)
(vi) Environmental Science
(vii) Forestry
(viii) Geology
(ix) Horticulture
(x) Mathematics
(xi) Physics
(xii) Statistics
(xiii) Veterinary Science
(xiv) Zoology
The candidates having the knowledge of customs, manner, and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment in the peculiar conditions prevailing in the State shall be preferred.
B. Number of attempts
Candidates belonging to UR/General category can avail 6 chances to appear in the examination. There shall be no limit for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories.
C. Age Limit
The candidates must be aged between 21 to 31 years as of 01st January 2021. The upper age limit shall be 42 years to the candidates already in service of the Government including those who have been appointed on adhoc or on a contract basis.

The minimum height for Scheduled Tribes and to races such as Assamese, Garhwalis, Kumoanis, Ladakhis, Mizo, Naga, Sikkimese and those from Arunachal Pradesh, Lahaul & Spiti, and Meghalaya shall be:

- Female candidate = 145 cm
HP PSC Forest Range Officer Selection Process
The candidates will first have to appear for a screening test. Successful candidates equal to 20 times the total vacancies shall be called for the main written exam. The number of candidates to be called for Physical Test after qualifying the mains shall be 5 times the total vacancies. After clearing the physical test, candidates equal to 3 times the total vacancies shall be called for the final stage i.e. interview. HPPSC Forest Range Officer Exam Pattern 2021

A. Prelims
- The prelims exam shall consist of objective-type questions only.
- One-fourth (0.25) of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted as a penalty.
- Candidates selecting multiple responses shall be also considered as wrong answer and the negative marking will be the same as discussed above.

- The mains written exam shall include two compulsory and two optional papers.
- All papers shall have a duration of 3 hours.
- Candidates must obtain at least 40% marks in each compulsory papers and 45% marks in aggregate.

Male/ Female candidates must pass a physical test covering a distance of 25/16 km within four hours on foot, respectively.
D. Personality Test
Candidates who qualify the two written exams and the physical round will be called for an interview in this last stage before being employed. The likes of personal suitability, mental and intellectual capability is tested to check if selected candidates can cope with the esteemed post. It consists of 100 marks. The strength of candidates appearing for the round will be thrice the number of available vacancies.
